The board of trustees of The Veteran Films Project & Festival, are excited & delighted to announce that Simon Weston OBE has agreed to be the Patron for the project.
A word from Simon:
‘It is my great honour to have been asked to be patron to the Veterans Film Project and Film Festival. Its aim is to help veterans with mental or physical disabilities to re-train and give them a new creative outlet to tell their own stories through the medium of film. This wonderful project is giving veterans the chance to show some of their hidden talents and yet at the same time highlight just some of the many difficulties they have had to overcome or are still battling against. The project also brings a lot of enjoyment and fun to many of these veterans and I hope their stories can help us all learn more about the challenges they face on a day to day basis.
Please support this fantastic project – and more importantly watch some of the films and if you get the chance come to the festival next year.’
The Veteran Films Project is a not-for-profit social company that helps Veterans leaving the service and those with mental or physical disabilities to re-train in digital media whilst helping them shift focus away from their disability and giving them a creative outlet to tell their stories.
